Made by (Bangladesh)
For this project I photographed garment workers in Dhaka who have joined Unions. Since the Rana Plaza disaster garment factory employees in Bangladesh have fought to form over 200 Unions, where previously there were only a handful.
I asked the workers to show me the position their hands are in most frequently in their job, and then placed a red thread through their fingers which enters and exits the frame. I wanted this to symbolize the way that they are linked through union membership, but also how all of our lives as producers and consumers are deeply entangled under globalized capitalism.
