Human civilization evolved partially from a desire to insulate ourselves against the harshness of nature. But even in our techno-centric urban society, nature always finds a way to breach our boundaries; in the form of cockroaches, mice, silverfish, bedbugs, raccoons, squirrels, ants and so on and on and on…. Our escalating power to modify the environment is mirrored by the almost supernatural ability of these ‘pests’ to continually adapt to change. How connected are we to these other species whom we abhor? Can there be no end to this cycle of pesticide and bites and death and war and horror and violence? This is the story of one man’s struggle: with ants.
